Fortune’s Wheel
A massive casino in the Market Ward run by Shemeshka the Marauder
What You Know
Fortune’s Wheel is the most extravagant casino in the Market Ward—and maybe in all of Sigil. It’s a massive establishment run by Shemeshka the Marauder, and everything about it screams excess, indulgence, and danger wrapped in velvet.
When you first arrived, you were given a VIP suite and money on the house. Generous, right? Nothing in Sigil is free, especially not hospitality from the Queen of the Cross-Trade. But the rooms were luxurious, the food was excellent, and for a brief moment, you could almost forget you were dead a few days prior.
The casino floor is a sensory overload: games of chance from across the planes, the spin of Fortune’s Wheel itself (which you all tried, though nothing extravagant came of it), performers, gamblers, and dealers who never seem to blink. You met a few faces there—Ignatius Inkblot, Anisa, and a gambling addict named Jell. Vecna drag impersonators walked the floor, and there was even a white dragon somewhere in the mix.
You gambled, you drank, and some of you ate cursed cake before arriving, which led to yet another death. (The Mortuary’s going to start charging you rent at this rate.) The deaths piled up during your stay, but Fortune’s Wheel kept spinning.
Eventually, Shemeshka made her entrance and made you an offer. You spent what felt like three days at Fortune’s Wheel (but was it longer? Time gets hazy when you’re gambling in the wheel), eventually you were tipped off and made a quick escape, to find yourself in the Outlands.
Fortune’s Wheel is dazzling, dangerous, and deeply tied to Shemeshka’s web of information and favors. If you ever go back, and maybe even if you don’t, you’ll owe her. And in Sigil, debts to the Marauder are the kind that always come due.
