Shemeshka the Marauder
The Queen of the Cross-Trade, a raavasta (fox-like fiend) who runs Fortune’s Wheel
What You Know
Shemeshka the Marauder is the Queen of the Cross-Trade, and she knows it. A raavasta—a fox-like fiend with luxurious fur and an aura of calculated danger—she runs Fortune’s Wheel with the kind of effortless control that only comes from knowing everyone’s secrets and owning half their debts.
When you met her, she made an entrance that commanded the entire casino floor. Every eye turned to her, and she soaked it in like she was born to it. Because she was.
Shemeshka deals in information, favors, and opportunities. She offered you hospitality at Fortune’s Wheel, gave you VIP treatment, and made it clear—without saying it outright—that she expected something in return. That’s how she operates: everything is a transaction, every conversation is a negotiation, and every favor comes with interest.
She knows things. About you, about your past, about the strange circumstances of your deaths and rebirths. How much she knows is unclear, but the way she looked at you suggested it was more than you’d be comfortable with. She didn’t offer answers freely—Shemeshka never does—but she hinted that if you wanted to know more, you’d need to earn it.
You’ve left Fortune’s Wheel for now, but Shemeshka isn’t the kind of person you just walk away from. She’s invested in you, and that means one of two things: either you’re useful to her, or you’re a threat. Maybe both.
In Sigil, they say the Marauder always collects her debts. You’re not sure what you owe her yet, but you will be. She’ll make sure of it.
